To provide optimum support for the processes in the consumer electronics stores at all times, the IT, Logistics & Organization division combines standard solutions with software it has developed itself and rolls out tailor-made applications quickly and efficiently.

Retail Solutions
Retail solutions provide support for business operations in the consumer electronics stores, as well as the Internet-specific and multi-channel activities of the Media-Saturn Group. These are solutions developed in-house using primarily Java technology. The solutions are complemented by standard solutions such as Oracle Retail Suite. WebSphere components from IBM® are used to help implement the web presence and the online shop. Siebel components from Oracle for customer relationship management, service processing and the sales process neatly round off the above-mentioned solutions.
The following approach is applied to all solutions: The closer the solutions are to the customer-related processes and the greater the distinction between Media-Saturn and its competition, the more individual the solutions become.
The IT, Logistics & Organization division views the design of the solutions in cooperation with the various divisions as its core competence. When developing the solutions, on the other hand, it makes use of the services offered by selected partners outside of the group. It also exploits the advantages offered by what is known as “offshoring” by having certain functions performed in India, for example.

Administration Solutions
In addition to the core processes in the stores and in the Internet, the IT, Logistics & Organization division also provides solutions for internal divisions such as Finance & Administration, Human Resources, Legal, Construction and Real Estate.
Appropriate software packages, for example for creating appraisals, analyses and reports, provide the basis for these solutions. In the areas of finance and human resources, solutions from SAP®’s portfolio are primarily used.

Infrastructure Solutions
All IT solutions for retail and administration require - and are based on - a robust and secure IT infrastructure. The IT, Logistics & Organization division provides and operates these solutions together with major international partners.
For example, the division works together with partners in fields related to network and communications technologies (voice over IP, video conference systems), Wide Area Network (WAN), as well as the operation of IT systems and hosting.
