What made you choose Media-Saturn?
After completing my degree in Sport Management, I started working at adidas AG in the Global Retail Sourcing department, where I worked for two and a half years and was involved in POS/Shop-in-Shop development and production. Since I wanted to expand my professional horizons, I started looking for a new challenge at other companies. The job opening at Media-Saturn sounded very exciting and challenging – primarily because it involved working internationally. That’s why I decided to apply for the trainee program despite my job experience. At the Assessment Center, I was very taken with Media-Saturn and, looking back, I can say that I’ve never regretted my decision. Media-Saturn is a great company to work for, and it knows that its employees are its most valuable asset.
What makes your job so exciting?
As a Procurement trainee, I’ve been completely involved in everything going on here from the very start. That was very important to me because that is how you learn the most. Within a timeframe of 18 months, we get to know all of the most important aspects of the Procurement department and also assume responsibility for our own projects. I think that the weeks we spend in one of our stores are extremely important since we need to know how business is done, what customers need and how our colleagues master the challenges they face daily. Another part of the program involves a project abroad, which lasts several months. In my case, it’s providing support for the opening of the 15,000-square-meter Saturn store in the Domus shopping center in Paris. What I can say so far is that at Media Markt no two weeks are ever alike and life is never boring!
What do you think everyone should know about Media-Saturn?
The retail sector is very fast and dynamic. What’s important here is quickly developing pragmatic solutions. A solid theoretical foundation provides the basis, but focus is placed on doing. What I also like is the relaxed and friendly working climate.
What electronic device drives you crazy?
Thanks to my boyfriend, we have so many infotainment devices at home that I no longer know which remote control belongs to which device. That sometimes drives me crazy.
