What made you choose Media-Saturn?
I ended up at Media Markt more or less by accident - but my decision to stay in the retail sector was deliberate. I completed a conventional vocational training program at the Media Markt store in Regensburg and later decided that I’d like to complete a degree. It was my good luck that the International Retail Management program of study had just been introduced - it virtually meant that I could study together with my own company.
Why do you like working for Media-Saturn?
What I particularly like is that although Media-Saturn expects a lot from each individual, at the same time, every individual is provided with tremendous help and support. I’m given the feeling that I have an important contribution to make and that my work is valued. It’s great when you know that you’re in good hands, and you’re given the opportunity to develop your own individual strengths.
What do you think everyone should know about Media-Saturn?
Dealing with the customers at our stores made me realize how many people have no idea just how decentralized our organizational structure is. It’s an enormous advantage that every store is a separate limited company, and that every store manager is a co-partner in his own store. We are responsible for procuring the products that we sell - and can therefore accommodate our customers needs and desires.
What electronic device drives you crazy?
Fully-automated coffee machines - on the one hand, I think coffee brewed the old-fashioned way tastes best and, on the other hand, these fully-automated machines drive me crazy because they always want something from me: descaling, coffee beans or water…
